Dear AAYC members and families,
We hope that you are all are staying safe and healthy in these unprecedented times. As coronavirus (COVID-19) cases continue to escalate in Michigan, it is more evident than ever that we are in a marathon, not a sprint. In response, the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale has cancelled the remainder of its 2019-20 performance season.
While we are sad and disappointed, this isn’t goodbye. This is prioritizing our membership’s safety and refocusing our Board’s work to ensure that AAYC is able to continue making beautiful music together in the future.
The Board of Directors acknowledges that there are unanswered questions about the 2019-20 season and what is to come for the 2020-21 season. We assure you that discussions are ongoing on both topics and ask for your patience as we learn to operate in a temporary new reality. Decisions will be relayed to our membership as they are reached.
In the interim, our sincerest thanks to our singers for their eagerness to vocally challenge themselves this season. You accomplished so much in our shortened period of time and we are immensely proud of you. We miss you too – your warm smiles and your beautiful singing! Thanks also to our parents for supporting your child’s interest in the vocal arts and your dedication to our non-profit organization.

Congratulations to the members of Concert Choir who were featured performers, under Mrs. Kidd’s direction, in U of M’s recent production of Puccini’s gorgeous opera, La Boheme. You sounded and looked fantastic, with all that movement and activity on stage and, of course, wonderful singing. You seemed to be having the time of your life!
Here’s what an AAYC alum wrote on our Facebook page, “This makes me so happy! I was in La Bohème with AAYC in 2007 and remember the experience so well. It’s great to see that more AAYC kids are having wonderful experiences like this!” Clearly, this was an unforgettable experience for her, as I hope it will be for all of you.
Here’s my favorite photo – curtain calls at the end of Act II. You’ll find more pics on AAYC’s Facebook page.
Be sure to tell your friends and family about this concert. They’ll love hearing you sing!
