Workshop Day September 17 at Huron HS

Workshop Day kicks off Ann Arbor Youth Chorale’s 2016-17 season, and we’ll accomplish a lot: members will receive their AAYC t-shirt, get a photo taken for attendance, have the chance to purchase an AAYC tote bag for $10, meet their directors and fellow singers, rehearse songs, and bring a parent or guardian to the meeting at the end. At that meeting, the choirs will actually sing something they just learned that afternoon!

Regular rehearsals begin the following Tuesday, September 20, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ (BUCC), 423 S 4th Ave, Ann Arbor.

  • Final Concert Choir auditions 8:30-10:00 am
  • All singers arrive between 10:00 and 10:45 am
  • Rehearsals with directors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (snack/lunch break included)
  • Parent meeting 1:00 to 1:30 pm, including brief performance by choirs
  • 1:30 dismissal

Registration packets due

We hope you’re enjoying the summer months with rest, relaxation and fun! If you haven’t yet sent in your completed registration packet to the AAYC office, please do so as soon as possible. The deadline for deposits and registration forms was July 15. Thank you for your prompt response.

Dine at CPK May 6 weekend and help AAYC!

AAYC is having another California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) fundraiser, and the timing couldn’t be better! From Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8, just present this AAYC CPK Flyer (hardcopy or on a mobile device) at their Briarwood Mall restaurant and they’ll donate 20% of your order to Youth Chorale. It’s as simple as that!

Friday, May 6th is the Spring Concert dress rehearsal – maybe catch dinner at CPK before or after rehearsal?

Saturday, May 7th is our Spring Concert – celebrate a great concert with dinner afterwards!

Sunday, May 8th is Mother’s Day – relax and enjoy pizza or other CPK menu items, with no cooking!

This easy way to give to AAYC runs all three days for dine-in, carry-out, curbside orders, catering, plus all beverages. CPK will accept both paper and digital copies of the flyer, so please share it with family, friends and business associates who might like to help Ann Arbor Youth Chorale. Thanks to CPK for making this fundraiser available to us!

50/50 Raffle Fun at Spring Concert

Feeling lucky? Purchase a ticket (or many!) for the 50/50 Raffle at our upcoming Spring Concert on May 7. Half the proceeds will be awarded as a cash prize to one very lucky winner! AAYC will keep the other half as a fundraiser to keep our choral programs strong.

Tickets will be sold only on concert day from 2:15 until the performance begins at 4:00 pm. The winner will be drawn at random during the concert.

You must be present to win, and you must be at least 18 years old to purchase a ticket. However, they can be given to children under 18, and there is no age restriction for winning the prize. The maximum prize value is $500.

Raffle tickets are $1 apiece and can be purchased for cash only. Only 1,000 will be sold, so be sure to buy them early. And good luck!!

AAYC Spring Concert May 7

Both Descant and Concert Choirs present their beautiful Spring Concert on Saturday, May 7 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 423 S. Fourth Avenue in Ann Arbor. The concert begins at 4:00 pm and is followed by a reception downstairs. Tickets are sold through members in advance and also at the door: $10 for adults; $5 for children, students and seniors (65+).

AAYC’s Spring Concert promises a lifetime of memories for singers, families and friends. You won’t want to miss it!

Concert Choir returns to Flint Symphony

AAYC’s Concert Choir performs in Carl Orff’s thrilling Carmina Burana on Saturday, April 30 with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Enrique Diemecke. The concert begins at 7:30 pm at The Whiting concert hall in the Flint Cultural Center.

Spring Plant & Flower Sale

Spring is right around the corner, and it’s time for our last fundraiser of the season – the Spring Plant & Flower Sale!

We offer a variety of beautiful flowers, plants and vegetables that your family and friends will enjoy all summer and into the fall. The hanging baskets are perfect for gift giving – maybe for a special teacher, friend, or for Mother’s Day.

Sales Begin: Tuesday, March 1
Sales End: Tuesday, March 22 (extended date!) – ORDERS DUE

Delivery Date: Tuesday, May 3rd at Huron High

On Tuesday, March 1, all singers will receive the order brochure and several individual receipts (inside the envelope). The receipts contain useful planting information for each item.

Fundraising may not be everyone’s preference. However, it is crucial to AAYC’s continued success and we need everyone’s help to meet our goals. Each year we offer families a choice to opt out of fundraising activities by making a $100 donation to cover both the Winter Greenery and the Spring Plant & Flower sales. If you have already made this donation you are not obligated to participate now.

We ask each family to sell $110 worth of plants or donate $50 in lieu of participating. Be sure to take a look at the brochure. You won’t be disappointed with  the plants! We’ve been working with this vendor for several years and their plants are of the highest quality.
